Amy Danahy
READING SPECIALIST
Amy graduated from Westfield State College with her B.S. in Elementary Education in 2000; and received her Master's in Reading at Bridgewater State College in 2005. She holds certifications in Elementary Education and Reading Specialist in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Amy grew up near Detroit MI and currently lives in Franklin, MA with her husband, three children, and dog (Fenway). She previously taught in Foxborough, Sharon, and Mansfield, MA. In her spare time, Amy enjoys training for triathlons, reading, and attending her kids’ sporting events!

Kate Gasper
ACADEMIC SPECIALIST
Kate teaches reading on the Language and Literacy team here at The Learning Community. She has taught at The Learning Community since 2018, when she began as Education Fellow. She then spent a year as a guest teacher before joining the L&L Team. Kate is from Providence, RI, and she went to Boston University, where she studied biology and philosophy. In her free time, Kate loves reading, gardening, and hiking.

Flerida Matos Carrasco
READING TEACHER
Flerida is an Early Childhood Education graduate from the University of Rhode Island. She has taught for the Providence, Woonsocket, International Charter School, and Charlotte (NC) school districts, as well as bilingual schools in the Dominican Republic. She is passionate about helping students become proficient readers. Flerida believes that having a respectful and caring relationship with students is essential for optimal learning and building healthy communities. She lives in Providence with her three children. For Flerida, being a Reading Teacher is a great opportunity to influence the lives of many children while focusing on the part of teaching that she enjoys the most, teaching reading.

Casey Woodard
MULTILINGUAL LANGUAGE COORDINATOR
Casey received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Rhode Island College in 2007 and her MLL Teacher Certification in 2019 through The Teaching Studio. She has been at The Learning Community since 2008. She started out as a Guest Teacher and moved into the role of a Reading Teacher. After her MLL Certification, she transitioned into the role of MLL Coordinator for The Learning Community in 2020. She was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI. Now residing in Warwick with her husband and two children, Casey enjoys reading and attending her children’s sporting events!

Jacqueline Ibarra
MULTILINGUAL LANGUAGE TEACHER
Jacqueline graduated from Rhode Island College where she majored in Psychology and Elementary Education. She also earned her M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Jacqueline has previously worked as a fifth-grade teacher and a multilingual teacher. She was raised in Providence, Rhode Island. Her parents are from Mexico and Guatemala. Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her family and friends whether in RI, Mexico, or Guatemala. She also loves baking and visiting new places.
