Our Campaigns

Lift Every Voice

Audience:  Women and others who are passionate about student voice and social justice in education

Our divided nation is the direct result of an education system that has failed when it comes to teaching civic engagement. We need an informed and skilled generation in order to heal. We know this because as women of every background, we have fought for too many generations to have our voices heard. We understand firsthand that representation and voice matter for all groups of marginalized people. We know how imperative it is for our children of color and girls to get an education that goes beyond the basics (reading, writing, math) and intentionally grow the skills necessary to enter a conversation with those in positions of power and be heard. Join us in supporting the amazing work to do exactly that at The Learning Community. Help us Lift Every Voice.

Latino Advisory Committee

Audience:  Rhode Island’s Latino community

At The Learning Community, we are committed to providing our students with the opportunities and supports often taken for granted in more affluent communities. Additionally, we believe in the importance of providing our students culturally aligned and culturally sensitive supports so they can excel in and outside of the classroom.  In this way, we position our students to grow into valued leaders within their community and within their careers. Recognizing that 80% of our student body identify as Hispanic/Latino, it is our goal to build a Latino Advisory Committee that can help provide our Latino students with mentors and career awareness opportunities to illustrate what our students can achieve long-term. Our Latino Advisory Council will engage the Rhode Island Latino community in recruiting Latino leaders to get involved in our work, spread the word, and support targeted fund development initiatives.

River Island

Outdoor Classroom and Theater

Through a City-school partnership, we are currently revitalizing the River Island Campground, located right here in Central Falls, to include an outdoor classroom, theatre space and supply shed for weekly trips with our science, art, and theater teams that will deepen the experience of our new curriculum with real-time exploration. As Central Falls is one of the most densely populated communities in the country with only 3% greenspace, securing this magnificent location for this purpose is a remarkable win for The Learning Community. This outdoor classroom will also be available to all Central Falls public and charter schools meaning that POC’s investment will support thousands of BIPOC Central Falls, Pawtucket and Providence students long after this investment!  Furthermore, the model we are developing will be replicable in open spaces, farms, and campgrounds in other cities and towns across Rhode Island.
